Renovations, or Adaptive Re-Use is the process by which we develop and implement structural changes to an existing building or structure to modify or prolong its use and function to meet present-day needs. The initial steps in the renovations/re-use process include a structural assessment to determine the condition of the existing building, evaluate its structural capacity, and identify what structural modifications will be required. With proper planning and execution, renovations and adaptive re-use allow for a building’s continued use and can result in cost savings, environmental benefits, and enhancing community character.
